I can't think of a better way to spend an evening than watching a haunted house-themed 3D movie. If you're anything like me, then you're always looking for new ideas on how to pass the time. Sure, there are old stand-bys like online games or Netflix, but sometimes these just don't work because they take too long or require too much effort. So I've come up with 7 spooky movies that you can watch for free at home... even if it's the middle of the day! It's so easy and satisfying I almost don't want to mention it. Almost. So, let's get started. The trailer above is from the DVD copy of Main Street: Haunted . I've always thought the folks at Disney know how to make a good ghost story, and this movie is no exception. You can see it's basically about a young girl that moves into an old-fashioned New England town and learns about her family's dark secret. It has a spooky setting and an engaging plot, and there are plenty of scares (and laughs) throughout the movie to keep you on the edge of your seat. 1. Deadgirl Another 3D movie with a great plot, Deadgirl is about a teenager who inherits her recently-deceased aunt's house. The place has been haunted by the ghost of her aunt, but that doesn't stop our heroine from getting to know the family history. She discovers that the house was once where she grew up, and that there are other spirits present as well. This film has some great jump scares and an engaging story to keep you guessing until the end. 2. Devil's Due This might be one of the best modern adaptations of an old horror story because it's not so much a remake as it is an updated version. The story takes place in the late 70s/early 80s during one of America's worst crime sprees. You can imagine that if you were living through that era then this movie might not be too far removed from reality. The film follows a group of people who were close friends two decades ago, but they're all connected to this crime spree. At first you think it could be an ordinary thriller; but as things start to unfold, you quickly realize that there are supernatural elements at play here. 3. Lake Mungo Now, I haven't seen this movie because it's not exactly available to watch at home... but you can rent it on pay-per-view. It looks pretty good, though. Based on true events, Lake Mungo is about a young girl who vanishes into thin air (and vanishes off the face of the Earth). The movie chronicles her family's efforts to find her and their investigation into the strange occurrences that led up to her disappearance. It looks like things are taken out of the girl's perspective; complete with flashbacks and creepy special effects. I would recommend checking this one out if you can get your hands on it. 4. cfa1e77820
